Saturday was the Brigid Faire at the Vortex, which was about half a dozen pagan vendors with tables. There was an Imbolc ritual later that evening, but I was there for the shoppage. Kirby and I looked around, and I found someone in town who sells the goddess/Moroccan/magic dresses that I love so much- the only ones I've seen are on eBay, or there was a lady at the Whole Life Expo who sold them, but the WLE stopped coming to Austin. So now I have a source. I think I may try to sell a couple of the ones I bought and have not used much- I got so excited that I checked to make sure they fit across the chest, and failed to notice until it was much too late that they were a little too short. I mean, not like mini-skirt short, but I'm 5'8" and they just don't hang right. They're $100+ dresses too, so hopefully I can get a decent price for them somewhere and turn that into one new one. If anyone's interested, let me know and I'll figure out which ones I want to sell and provide descriptions and pictures.
Either way, it was fun to shop with Kirby, then hang out and chat while she dusted off approximately 5 bazillion carat weight of pretty rocks. I headed home and we watched a little Buffy and soaked in the hot tub.
Yesterday was fairly slow at work. I came home to a meal of duck and mustard greens. I guess I can now say that I also don't like mustard greens in addition to celery; well, I had never tried it before so it was an experiment. I'm also sad to say that the duck gave me trouble; for some reason having to disassemble meat to eat it grosses me out; I don't even like fried chicken that much. And the duck was harder to pull the meat off, and I ended up not eating much. And it tasted okay, it's just a 5 point quirk for me, I guess. But I felt bad because hub had gone though all the effort to cook it up. Plus, I really, really hate wasting food- if I'm gonna kill it (indirectly), I think I really oughta eat it, you know?
Which brings me to another thing. Student is going on his month-long fast starting Saturday (the Full Moon) and lasting through 'til the next FM. I've done this fast twice- it's tough; you slowly eliminate stuff (but can eat as much of the non-eliminated stuff as you want) over the weeks, and in the last week you're on fruit and veggie juices for 4 days, then water only for 3 days. Our Trad leader has said she would like us 3rd Degrees to do the fast occasionally (like every few years) as well, and while I don't think I'm up for it right now, I think I would like to do something for this upcoming Moon cycle. So I think I will go veggie at the very least, and possibly have the option of going totally vegan sometime later and then maybe do a couple of days of juice only. We'll see how I do. February is a good month for this kind of thing.
We gave our box of tax papers to tax lady. She's done right by us the last few years, hopefully she'll come through again. As long as we get enough of a return to pay her and maybe have some leftover to throw at mister fence, I will be happy. We'll probably hear back in a week or so.
