Pardon my schoolgirlish squealing, but OMFG! I placed a spendy Canon digital camera (along with a cheaper Kodak) on my wish list purely in order to pool Christmas money and find one for sale or on eBay or something. I can never remember model numbers and such, and after doing a bunch of research on Consumer Reports (with hub's help, he of 2 semesters of college-level photography classes) I wanted to remember which ones I'd picked. Anyway, to make a long story slightly longer and wasting more bandwidth- hub's mom got me the Canon! Holy baby Jeebus! She also got him an onyx black Kitchen-Aid 5 qt. mixer! No flame job like Alton Brown's, but he'd put it on there for much the same reason I did, not expecting anyone to get it for him.
She said she'd gotten a nice bonus, and since we hadn't hit her up for money this year she wanted to give us a treat. Who says staying off welfare doesn't have it's rewards?!?!?!?!
Anyhoo, the pictures it takes are amazing. The first I took didn't come out (flash issue) but these are most of the rest. I haven't done anything to these except crop them and run unsharp mask.

This was the second picture I took. Note TV with juggling Santa on top, concrete floor, snoozing secondary cat, home made scratching post, and generous (in the non-physical sense) bosom of mother-in-law. Such detail!

My Christmas tree in the meditation room. Note corner of 55 gallon fish tank, dragon cross-stitch on the wall, and orange-ish ornament on the upper left part of the tree.

The same orange-ish ornament. It's actually a Huichol beaded decoration featuring, you guessed it, a scorpion. It's probably my favorite ornament. You can count the beads in this photo!

My mother. She will be 69 in 4 days. Happy birthday Mom! Note snoozing primary cat in the background.

Bolt, aka Boltimus Prime, the Grumpy Professor, Bolt son of Maug, Bolt: Cat of Speed, and He Who Is Called Bolt. I think this is probably going to be one of my most favorite pictures of him.

My brother, the post office worker (actually he works for an insurance company). Note approximately a quarter of hub and his pony tail.

Outside of our favorite Chinese restaurant, Wan Fu ("Open Till 4 A.M.!") with action shot of Brö's SO Tom, Mom, and Brö looking quizzical.

Another exterior shot of Wan Fu. This is the origin of our family's verb 'to Fu': to eat a meal at Wan Fu. As in 'anyone want to Fu? Let's go Fu.'

I like my digital, but I'm a little disappointed in some of the night-time shots and the associated lack of depth-of-field needed to retain clarity.
So, does this mean we'll see more photos?
