I still haven't gotten the farking Christmas tree up. I have been avoiding it for some reason. I usually love decorating the thing; I don't know what the deal is this year. I seem to be fixating on what a pain it is to assemble or disassemble. But I wouldn't trade that tree for a real one- seeing all those real trees slowly dying in lots at the stores always depresses me.
Hub and I have been left to entertain ourselves a lot this past week. This is okay, but we even went to a mall just to do something besides sit in front of the TV. That can be pretty amusing if you're in the right mood. We went to a game store and in addition to walls full of cartridges (boring!) they had various action figures. There was one of Morpheus from The Matrix, with his big chair and the little table with the telephone on it. Hub picked it up and said "Look! It's Action Sitting Morpheus!" I started laughing, and the clerk wandered by and said "What did you call him?" Hub repeated it, and the clerk started laughing too, which made me laugh even harder. Maybe you had to be there. It was nice that he amused the clerk; I feel really bad for those guys this time of year.
I made meatloaf. Not the one I usually make, but the Good Eats meatloaf. It was interesting to bake it outside of the ever-present loaf pan. We did substitute bread crumbs and garlic salt for the garlic croutons, and found a Tabasco sauce flavored with chipotle (smoked jalapeños). It was nice and zesty, though I think I'll ditch the carrot next time. The carrot didn't really add anything. More red pepper and onion! And the little food processor we got a couple of months ago was wonderful for this. Why didn't we get one sooner??
