As promised, a list of my favorite happy Dave Matthews songs for [livejournal.com profile] lisado.
The happy ones tend to be either along the lines of 'life is short so have fun and be excellent to each other and live for the moment' (BETO) songs, which is why they have an annoyingly large frat-boy following, and also squishy love songs (SLS).

From Under the Table and Dreaming 1994:
'What Would You Say'- BETO that was the first video I saw back in the day, and what got me hooked on the band
'Dancing Nancies'- BETO with an introspective twist
'Ants Marching'- BETO, catchy! More like, it's pointing out people that don't ever look outside their self-imposed limits, but it's a good dance song. The lyrics for a lot of these songs, by the way, can be found at their official website, which also has a lot of their videos. This is the first one I saw with the famous Dave Matthews Potato Masher dance.
'Lover Lay Down'- SLS
'Satellite'- as far as I can tell, Dave got high and wrote a song about satellites. A nice dreamy song.

Crash 1996:
'So Much To Say'- one of my favorite songs, and my very favorite video (more potato mashing!). It's about having a committee in your head. Extra catchy!
'Say Goodbye'- beautyful SLS about having a fling with a friend. Good fluting (flauting?).
'Lie in our Graves'- BETO, the lyrics are on my info page. Another of my faves.

In the spirit of fairness, this album has the song that has one of the stupidest lyrics evar- 'Let You Down'. The lyric: "I'm a puppy for your love." Oh, please.

Before These Crowded Streets 1998:
'Rapunzel'- a funky syncopated SLS
'Stay'- a catchy BETO/SLS song with a gospel choir
'Pig'- the ultimate BETO, and my favorite song from this album; the only reason I don't have this one on my info page is because the music is what makes it as much as the lyrics

Everyday 2001:
'I Did It'- I just loved the video for this one. It reminds me of the old Beatles videos when they'd be acting silly. (*whisper* I think it's about... drug use! Da dun daaah!) It's catchy too.
'Everyday'- BETO song with a video that is so cute and glurgy you'll go 'aww' if it doesn't make you puke.

Busted Stuff 2002:
'Where Are You Going'- a very sweet SLS, ruined by association with an Adam Sandler movie. Blech.
'You Never Know'- BETO, another catchy syncopated one
'Kit Kat Jam'- jazzy instrumental song- impressive because it goes between 6-4 and 6-8 time.

Some Devil 2003 (lyrics available here):
'So Damn Lucky'- a BETO about being in a car wreck (but in 1st person, so we assume he lived)
'Save Me'- another gospel choir song
'Baby'- a sweet BETO song that sounds like a lullaby; nice string accompaniment
'Up and Away'- a SLS that is my favorite off this album; it has a sort of Lowry organ-Bob Marley feel to it.
