Today has been a good day.
Got up, puttered, student came over for some make-up work. I remembered to get dressed a good 30 seconds before the doorbell rang, too- go me. Changed over to the S2 style, which hub talked me into. Now I discover it's basically in beta, and LJ doesn't officially support it. Mur. I may stick with it, it looks nicer though it seems to load my background image a bit slower.
Then the fishtank got cleaned, and the carbon filters replaced. Hopefully we've seen the last of the ich for awhile *fingers crossed*. Hub fixed the pool ladder, and so we went for a swim (I've hit my stride on the pool again, and it's all sparkly and wonderful). Whilst swimming, we decided a jaunt to purchase things was in order, so first we went to the pet store and got cat füd and a couple of algae eating fish, since the pleco has become a slacker bum. Then to Fry's (they have the stoopidest looking mascot, by the way) since hub wanted to get a teeny food processor. One was procured, then to the store to buy a whole bunch of meat.
I've been eating sorta veggie for a long while now, and gaining weight the whole time (cake is vegetarian). In the ongoing quest to find the diet that works best for me, hub has decided that we'll try a more typically American level of dead animal and cut way back on the carbs, and see what that does. We know enough people that have dropped a bunch of weight on the Atkins, but I don't really want to go whole-hog with it. Mainly I'm trying to lower a lot of my carb intake. This will be difficult. I also need to find some form of bean I like eating so we can go easier on the meat. I'm not really thrilled about this from a moral/environmental standpoint, so we're working on a solution.
Damn, this is a fucking boring entry! Surely I did something interesting. Oh yeah! I bought a year pass to Hippie Hollow, the naked lakeside park (actually to all parks in the county). I swim a hell of a lot when I go there, and now I paid for a pass so I have to go. Being naked with a bunch of other less-than-perfect naked peeps is quite a lot of fun too. I was always one of those kids that was always tearing my clothes off and toddling around naked (which gives you a notion of the age I'm talking about, you pervs). So- hopefully there will be more swimming, more outdoor nakedness, and more hippies in my life for the next several weeks before it cools off. And it'll last most of the way through next summer, which is nice. I'm also told the fee is going up $20-30 in a month because of budget woes, so I actually saved money! Go me again! Anyone want to go with me to Hippie Hollow?
