I had this odd dream where I entered myself into a contest to prove I was the bravest of them all. I was doing this to protect myself, since I was living in a jail-like environment in the sense that the toughest ones were left alone. So the contest was to be put in a small room and a snake was released, and you had to defeat it. I went in, the door was closed behind me, and a 6 foot long black and grey pit viper of some kind was released into the same room. It was aggressive, and immediately started biting me. I was wearing sneakers and tried to present the rubber soles for the snake to bite, but it was smart and went for the thin cloth upper part, and landed at least 2 good bites on my foot before I managed to grab it's head. It was very strong, and it was a struggle to hang on to it, but I finally managed to bash it's head and kill it. The poison didn't affect me somehow.
Eesh, my dreams aren't normally so destructive- especially towards snakes! I suspect part of this may have come from the show I watched with Dad and Elaine Sunday- it was an Animal Planet show focused on a doctor who specifically treated snake bites. It followed the treatment of several people and re-enacted how they got bit. Almost every one was someone screwing with a snake who was otherwise minding his own business, and I found myself rooting for the snakes. I get the distinct impression that they only bite people if they feel cornered and the best way to avoid that is to just leave the damn things alone. Anyway.
Here's where it gets really weird. After this dream, I half woke up and was just lying there in bed getting ready to fall all the way back asleep. Hub was curled up next to me, and made a sudden very loud moan. He then got up and went to pee, and when he got back I mentioned the noise to him. He said 'Oh, I actually made that sound out loud?' and told me of his dream where he had been bitten by a rattlesnake, and his jaw was paralyzed so the only sound he could make was a close-mouthed moan.
*eerie music*
