I've been called for jury duty!
...
OK, how many of you will admit that your first thought was 'I wonder if she'll be able to get out of it?' It was certainly the first thing out of hub's mouth, which I don't get. I don't have to go to work, but they still pay me! Hub mentioned that not every job has jury duty leave. Pay issue aside, why is jury duty seen as such a monumental pain in the ass? I mean it, I've never been so I don't know what to expect.
It looks like classes are going to move from Friday nights to Saturday afternoons. I'm not thrilled about this, but as long as hub is not working it's okay. When he is, Saturday is the only full day I get to spend with him since I work Sundays. So I don't really like having non-hub scheduled events on Saturdays. It'll do for now.
I realized I was a couple of days late for Bolt's latest subcutaneous fluid injection. So I warmed up the bag while hub herded him into the bathroom. The 2 times I'd done this by myself before had gone really well, with Bolt sitting there and grumbling but not really protesting in any other way. This time was not so good- he kept jerking around and the needle would pop out. Hub was trying not to pin him down, and he never had to before anyway. I had to re-stick him twice, and the third time the needle came out I gave up, even though he only got half the fluid. I could tell the needle had gotten so dull that if I'd tried to stick him a fourth time it'd really hurt him. I was alarmed enough as it was because since we'd had him shaved I could see blood on his fur. I felt so bad. He was bonking me with his head within 5 minutes again anyway, so I'm glad he forgave me. I'm wondering if I should try again tonight, or wait a week, or just go to the vet and get smaller needles or something. I hate this.

Date: Jul. 8th, 2003 01:18 pm (UTC)From:And since I was done by noon or 1, I went in to work for the afternoon. People thought I was crazy. But you know, if they pay me for the whole day, and I'm only at the courthouse in the morning, and I just go home, then gee, that's like stealing, isn't it? But maybe that's just me.
Anyway, be prepared for long waits and uncomfortable chairs.
