Mar. 9th, 2005 01:23 pmBack to the grind. Class was fine last night, which was nice. One of the students dropped out- but I was not especially surprised. I got a lot of organizational stuff done for the grove- a couple of initiations are coming up, and one of the potential Initiates wants Hersh to attend his ritual. He seemed happy to be invited, and invited his daughter. This is typical; he is really, really attached to her but was agreeable when I told her it wasn't appropriate. He gets an invite because he's an Elder; his daughter ain't and is a member of another grove besides. But then he went on to ramble about all sorts of interesting things. Apparently the seeds of one of my favorite trees, the mountain laurel, are so poisonous that eating one of them could kill a person. This led to other discussion of how to poison people effectively. He was not telling me this because he's evil, but solely because he is a master chemist and botanist and he just knows this stuff, and it's interesting, and he likes to share. He's always fun to talk to if you don't have to get off the phone in a hurry.
Today I'm back helping train the new guys at work. The trainee I happened to be stuck with today is a big pain in the ass. She complains about everything, doesn't listen well, and even called me 'nit-picky' when I corrected something. I got no love for her. And yeah the supervisor's going to hear about it. I think she is not cut out for this job at all. This is why I didn't become a teacher- teaching people who don't want to be taught is pretty damn frustrating.
The Burgman is still for sale, and it's Spring. I am so tempted.
