I may have already posted this link, but I forgot if I did. And while many of my friends don't really need to be told that it's okay to be an introvert, perhaps they know someone who could stand to be enlightened. :)

Caring for Your Introvert

Edit: Now that I've re-read it, I remember being irritated by a slight thread of 'victim superiority' throughout ('we're better than everyone, and no one understands us! Boo hoo!') but otherwise it's still an interesting read.

There's a pagan list I'm on with a questionnaire for people who join. One of the sillier questions is 'what animal do you want to come back as?' and everyone always says 'cat' because they are worshipped by people and can do whatever they want. Well, first of all, that's assuming you're one of the lucky ones that gets an owner, and an attentive one which narrows the field even more. Second, I wonder if being owned by a human is such a great thing anyway. While I keep my cats all housebound because I know they're less likely to catch diseases and get in fights and get hit by cars, I think I'd prefer being a wild animal (in a non-threatened habitat, if we get to be that picky). I've always thought I'd enjoy being a barn swallow. Or kelp. Though I guess kelp is not an animal. It reminds me of a story I read set in ancient Japan... these samurai had to kill themselves for some reason, but before they did they got to write a haiku, and speculate about what they wanted to come back as... and one said a cloud. That sounds nice too.
