OK, I'm very irritated with this article. It helps to remember that according to this allergy specialist at the clinic I visited last week, if you stay in this area for a number of years, your allergies to the local flora and fauna will decrease and perhaps even go away. So anyway, it's about the evil cedars (ashe juniper, dammit!) and how we should chop them all down because they make people sneeze. Oh, and they use up water, which could better be put to 'human use'; making it sound like humans are dying of thirst because of these evil trees. First of all, this land is half-desert, and it's probably unreasonable to expect it to support all the people it manages as it is, especially when they insist on having golf courses and huge manicured lawns with non-native grasses. Then the author sneers at the fact that there are at least a couple of bird species that will go extinct (not just have to forgo a fucking golf game) if the cedars are removed. "The yellow-cheeked warbler, as far as I know, has never done anything beneficial for mankind. Why doesn't everybody stop worrying about the dumb bird and put the people first?" says the bastard who also has a website called 'People Against Cedars'. This is a perfect example of the contemptible notion that humans should always be first since we are the jewel of creation; fuck balance and living with nature as opposed to against it, conquering it. Take a Claritin and plant some buffalo grass in your yard, you pustulent asshole.
