Sep. 23rd, 2002 10:16 amI woke up this morning (blues riff) and went to feed the new guys, and the betta looks sort of banged up. One side had a couple of lacerations, and he was holding one of his side-panel swimming fins (I'm sure there's some fancy term) down and having a hard time getting around. I don't know if he had a run-in with a filter or if the mollies ganged up on him... they didn't seem to be paying him any mind when I was watching them yesterday or this morning. So I dunno. If the little thugs keep it up I may have to take him back; I'd hate to be responsible for his demise. And that tank's gonna have a lot more mollies soon, possibly.
It occurred to me in my zeal to have only a certain color of fish in the tank (Paul is already gonna kill me when he finds out- he had orange mollies he was trying to get rid of) that there is no guarantee the prego molly got that way by another black molly. She was in a tank at the store with silver lyretails (which would be fine) and these burnt-orange 'sunset' mollies, which may yield calico-looking mollies. It will me interesting to see what happens.
