I never finished the moving saga. I hit a black squirrel in the SUV I was driving, increasing my loathing for those vehicles. I'd probably have felt a lot more depressed, but as a person who has tried to maintain bird feeders for birds, I have never been fond of the bushy-tailed thieving rodents. It's be one thing if they just ate the seed, but they hoard as much of it as they can carry, go stash it somewhere, and come back for more until the feeder is empty. The jerks. But I still felt bad hitting the little twerp.

So we got there at around 6pm, and the movers were gone for the night. So we poked around, and got some dinner. It's a nice little place- they have a really neat enclosed porch and a beautiful tiled fireplace. It looked much the same as when I last saw it several years ago. After dinner we went to get a room at the local Motel 6. It was amusing because the nice motel in town had the moving trucks parked out by it- that's where the movers were staying. I mentioned to Dad that it was funny that his stuff was staying at the nice motel while we stayed at the crappy one.

Hub had made a few wrong turns and didn't make it into town until past 10pm. He was pissed so I took him out to dinner and tried to placate him. We got a good long night's sleep, and got to the house in time to see the last of the stuff being dumped in the house by the movers... what timing! Hub spent the next hour or so setting up Dad and Elaine's computers, then we headed home. It was a fairly uneventful drive home, but I was able to try Red Fusion! It tasted like a cross between DrPepper and Big Red. I liked it fine, but it must have had a huge amount of caffeine in it, because it made me have to pee in that way caffeine does. I mean, I had to pull off the road and water the bushes before I exploded. Sheesh.

So we started back on the house stuff. First thing, I needed the washer and dryer back so we had to fix up the utility room. Hub said he didn't want to match the off-white paint, so he got WHITE! paint. We painted the whole utility room WHITE! and some baseboards also, which hub sliced up in his new miter box. I asked him why it was called that, and he didn't know. I am curious.

Then hub hung some nice wire shelves in said utility room, so we can use the ooky particle-board cupboards that came with it as a base for the big fish tank, which I have pretty much decided to try my hand at. He also made a short little hanger bar so I can hang up nice shirts. It looks really good now, even though it's very WHITE!

Next we primed the wall in the dining room, soon to be the mellow room. We then bought some very green paint that we weren't sure about. On the paint chip it seemed to have a lot of yellow in it, and we thought about getting a green with more blue in it. If this link works, we were vacillating between Emerald Isle and Racing Green. (For the record, I want a job where I get to come up with paint color names.) We decided on the Emerald Isle, and it turned out perfect. It is a very green green, without the slightest bit of extra blue or yellow- just as we had hoped.

Next, I want to paint my computer room. I picked Ribbon Dance, though I think I might have been hoping for something with a little more purple in it, and a little darker. But we'll see how it turns out. Depending on how pooped I am I may prime it tonight.

Other stuff going on- we had a CoG meeting Saturday which went fine. Colin, Bean, and Bob came over for Adult Swim last night which was tons of fun, though they were all covered with chiggers from some rave or other that they went to. I have never had chiggers, and after hearing described what they actually do, I would be horrified to the point of self-injury if I ever did get them. Ugh.
