Last night was fun. Eric experimented with a new recipe involving poblano peppers. Damn, the boy can cook. The filling was made with portabellos, corn, onions and garlic, and was superb. The plantains didn't come out as expected, but we weren't very familiar with the strange mfs anyway- the one time I had 'em, they tasted like big nanners. Last night they tasted more like potatoes (blander and starchier than I remembered). Shrug; the supplier isn't known for their fabulous produce. Eric is Iron Chef Austin.

We hung with Kit and watched that vampire movie with Willen Dafoe (unrecognizable!) and John Malkovich (what a bastard!), which was pretty good. Then we dicked around for a bit and Bob came over to wax eloquent about his fire spinning. That's always an interesting scene, because Kit, Eric, and I are all fairly introverted, and Bob is quite an extroverted attention whore, and gets all bouncy like a kid when he has something exciting he wants to share- and us quiet types all sit around him and watch him flail about, enjoying the energy.

We tried hot tubbing, which wasn't so good because the heat'd gotten knocked down, and the water was cold. It was also creepy because I felt something crawl on me a couple of times in the dark and it freaked me out. We finally got a flashlight and lo, I wasn't experiencing reefer madness, there really was a freaking huge water cockroach that was thrashing around in the water and desperately trying to find something besides the slick sides of the tub to grab onto. Yeeeeee.

Then Kit, who was mentally prepared to crash here, remembered that he didn't have his medications with him which meant if he did crash, he would wake up all hurty so he needed for one of us to sober up enough to drive him home. I felt bad because I could see the conflict in him of asking for what he needed versus trying to avoid being a pain in the ass. It was kind of one of those 'what are friends for' things, but I think he hates to rock the boat. I know that feeling well. I still feel selfish sometimes when I ask for what I need.

So Bob crashed, but it was like 4am and I didn't wake up until 10 to poke my head out and see if he'd gotten off to work, which he hadn't. Oops! Get dressed, poke him awake, stick a donut in him before he takes off, then get on the computer for my daily media infusion.

I have to say, I love my work schedule and these 3 days off. The only sucky thing will be when Eric gets a job (the ONLY sucky thing! We want him to get a job, and he has a good prospect- keeping fingers crossed) that he will most likely be working for two of my 3 days off. Ah, well.

Today, I plan to enjoy the rain.
