1. First Memory
I think a birthday. I remember a blue and white cake; I was probably two.
2. First Pet
Happy, a Sheltand sheepdog- like a miniature collie.
3. First Embarrassing Moment
eep. I was and am easily embarrassed, so this probably happened very early on. I also was one of those horrid children that cried in restaurants a lot.
4. First "Best Friend"
A girl named Heather from when we lived in San Antonio.
5. First Night Away from Home
hmm... probably over a holiday with grandma in Springfield MO. The first night spent away from family (not counting in a hospital) would have to have been a slumber party with some Camp Fire Girls when I was about 10 years old in The Colony (a small town north of Dallas).
6. First Love
Sonny! Also in The Colony. A blond little tyke, I think I even still have his picture somewhere.
7. First Unrequited Love
Oh- David, the trumpet player. This was in Plano, when I was in 8th grade. He had a slight stutter. We moved off to Houston before I could wear him down.
8. First Unreturned Love
Wait, what's the difference? I had crushes on TV stars and stuff that were unre-somethinged.
9. First Kiss
Voluntary, woulda been Keith from Comfort Texas. I was 17 working at McDonalds (the horror!), and he was 19.
10. First Time
I assume this means sex- that woulda been Rick, during my senior year in high school. I got on the pill, and we waited until I'd been on it for a month, which happened to be Valentine's Day, and my mom was out of town. We rented out a motel room and everything. It was very sweet in a small-town 18yo's notion of romantic kind of way. He even made a mix tape of heavy metal ballads to woo me.
11. First Realization of My Sexuality
This is vague; I couldn't keep my hands off the danger zone when I was really little, like 4-5; dunno what happened to stop that since I haven't gone there much since then. As far as proclivities... I had crushes on boys 90% of the time, but there was an occasional girl thrown in there too. I didn't pursue it, possibly due to asking Dad what a 'lesbian' was, and he would only say that if anyone called me one that I should kick their ass. Thanks, Dad. :P
12. First Bike
Hmm, without training wheels was a, uh, green one I think, that I got when we lived in Plano.
13. First Car
My 1979 Pontiac Catalina. Want it?
14. First Time on a Motorcycle
When we lived in San Antonio (around 1976) and I was about 8-9, a friend of the family and his adult son both had big ones, Goldwings I think, and one of them gave me a ride (I don't remember which one).
15. First Plane Trip
You know, I don't remember! I know I flew from Kerrville to Lubbock when I was a junior in high school, but I'm sure I'd flown before that.
16. First Trip Abroad
Is crossing the border to Mexico to get cheap booze considered 'abroad'? I hadn't done that until the last few years.
17. First Job
Dad paid my brother and I $1 an hour to help him salvage bricks from a construction site when we were 7-8 years old... my first legal job was an ice cream slinger at a Baskin-Robbins when I lived in Houston at age 14.
18. First Apartment
An efficiency right behind the co-op I was living in the first couple of years I was in college- it had a window unit and cost me $199 a month.
19. First Furniture Purchased New
Uh... I think a water bed I bought after I was out of college, around 24 years old or so, unless we're counting crappy particle board bookcases and whatall.
20. First Regret
Sheesh... I think my mom tried to get me to pet a giraffe at a zoo, but I thought he might bite me so I refused. I remember as she carried me off that I was really angry at myself for not working up the nerve.
21. First Fight
My brother is 14 months younger than I, so probably not too much longer after I was 14 months old. I was a jealous little twerp.
22. First Broken Bone
I've managed to avoid them so far.
23. First Scar
A dog was trying to avoid me when I was 6 or so and hid under a dresser- I crawled after it, and it bit me on the lip.
24. First Hospital Stay
Excluding birth, probably that dog bite.
25. First Automobile Accident
My boyfriend of the heavy metal ballad tape above were going to see White Lion and AC/DC in concert in San Antonio, and got rear-ended on the freeway. We missed White Lion. Darn!
26. First Brush with Death
I had pneumonia when I was 7 and remember staying home from school for at least a month... it probably wasn't a close brush.
27. First Religious Experience
Upon reflection, a lot of my woods wandering time when I lived in San Antonio was very sacred to me, and went a long way toward making me the pagan I am today.
28. First Album
I think it was Steve Martin's 'Comedy is Not Pretty', with a hideous picture of him dressed up in drag on the cover.
29. First Concert
Doc Severenson in a school gym in... 1982 or 1983. Top that, band geeks!
30. First Arena Concert
W.A.S.P. at whichever big one in San Antonio in 1985.
31. First Time on Television
Individually, never, though I've played in a couple of community bands that were shown briefly at mall openings, parades, the Zilker Tree lighting, etc.
32. First Movie That Scared the Shit Out of Me
'The Fury' about these psychic kids that could make all the blood fly out of your body when they got really pissed at you. Sheeeit!
33. First Movie I Saw More Than Once
Star Wars- I think my brother and I saw it at least 10 times.
34. First Theft
A 10-sided dice from a gaming store. Yes, I was a 1st level dork thief.
35. First Run-In with the Law
Hmm... I had a scooter when I was in college before I got that Catalina- and did manage to get speeding tickets on it, believe it or not. Stupid school zones.
36. First Vote in a Public Election
Bush versus Dukakis. Hooray for the underdog!
37. First Public Nudity
I was quite the little streaker in public... post self-awareness would have to have been floating topless down the Guadalupe river in New Braunfels when I was 18 or 19 with some friends (and my brother, who I think was traumatized- sorry, Brö).
38. First Drunk
17 years old. Keith of the First Kiss mentioned above invited me over to play D&D (why is this quiz making me feel like a dork?) with a bunch of his friends, and I was trying to impress everyone and kept drinking whatever anyone handed me. I hung onto my virginity (barely) but not my dignity!
39. First Illegal Drug Use
I never use illegal drugs! Well, okay, I ate like 1/4 of a pot brownie before I went to a Butthole Surfers concert my freshman year of college. I don't think it did anything.
40. First Death of Family Member or Friend
My dad's brother was killed in a car wreck by a drunk driver when I was 12 or 13.
41. First Funeral
I have never been to a funeral for a person- I arranged one for my dad's dog when I was 19 or 20 and my dad was living on the road.
42. First Wedding
Evil Ex's best friend in Wichita, KS got married and EE was an usher. It was all Catholic.
43. First Time I Felt "Like an Adult"
Probably when I went off to college.
44. First Forced Apology
Oh, probably soon after the first fight with my brother.
45. First Time I Lost My Shit
See number 21. I was otherwise not much of a shit-loosing kid, though moving from Plano and David the stuttering trumpet player caused a huge hissy fit on my part, wherein I learned how much I was living at the whims of my parents. Woe is I, woe woe.
46. First Time I Was Impressed with Myself
I remember picking every tomato (down to the littlest green pea-sized fruits) from my grandfather's many plants when I was 4 or 5, and feeling very proud. Grandpa, confronted with the destruction of his entire crop, was incredibly good-natured about it.
47. First Bad Haircut
Senior Prom. Too short. Aaaaugh!
48. First Piece of Clothing I Loved
Probably my letter jacket from high school. I lettered in Band! In your face, Choir geeks!
49. First Realization that Not Everyone Else is Like Me
I'd always felt lonely as a kid, even when among crowds (sometimes especially so).
50. First Computer Encounter
I was in some gifted program in... hmmm... 4th grade (1979?) in Richardson Texas where we were bussed to another school one day a week. They had an Apple of some sort, I think. We played Breakout on it. Another gifted program I was in a couple of years later had some text-based dungeon adventure game that I loved.
