My students both took and passed their Pagan Dedication test! We discussed when would be a good time to hold the ritual, and I realized that Litha remains as yet unscheduled. The person who was supposed to write it got stuck having to be out of town for work, so I figured I'd knock it out at some point. But it all fell into place- Dedication at Litha. What fun! To celebrate Gordon took us out to eat at the new restaurant 'Iron Chef'. Despite my fear of eels and fat netting, it had a fairly typical Chinese menu, though it was pretty pricey. It was one of those places though where you get a 'complete dining experience' though.

The decor was a very tasteful pseudo-oriental theme with lots of light wood and clean lines- hub said it looked like they'd raided an Ikea warehouse, but I thought it was very nice. As we sat down we got a little square plate with some cucumber, carrot, and a little chicken meatball thing. I ordered an 'Iron hurricane', a concoction that tasted like fruit punch spiked with amaretto- tasty! Our soup came in lovely lotus-shaped bowls, and was pretty good. It also came with a little 'Chinese dinner roll', as the fellow called it- a pretty standard dinner roll as far as taste goes, but completely lacking in any color. Well, it was white, so I guess that's a color, but it appeared to be a raw ball of dough. I think we decided it had been boiled.

Dinner for me was orange peel chicken, very savory and good. The plate had all manner of little roses and decoratively cut veggies arranged around the main dish. The steamed rice had what looked like wild rice in with it, and had an oddly purple tint to it but still tasted fine. Hub had Iron Chef special beef, basically beef with green pepper in a terrific garlic sauce. Gordon had bird's nest, which he complained about (as is his wont) but was absolutely smothered with what appeared to be high quality sea creatures of various sorts. Not that I'd eat the vile things, but still, you could tell it was not your Ms.Paul's fare. Brenda had the Buddha delight, a veggie plate that looked lovely, but I didn't get much of a review from her. For dessert I ordered Mississippi mud pie... I should have just stopped; who the hell orders MS mud pie at a Chinese restaurant? It was pretty unremarkable, but what the hell.

Today I'm going to go hang out with River to discuss a High Priestess from another group who wants to study with our Trad. She wants to jump through some of the earlier stuff which is understandable, I'm just not sure how to do this and still be coloring within the lines, so to speak. I popped awake at 5am this morning, and just haven't felt really sleepy, despite only having about five hours of sleep. Well, I just yawned- perhaps I'll go back and see if I can't catch another few winks.
