Wednesday we drove down to San Antonio to see my dad. Yeah, he lives in the other side of the state, but he's been diagnosed with prostate cancer and the only doctor that does the procedure that's been recommended works in SA. What is the procedure? Well, they take radioactive pellets about the size of a BB and plant them up his ass against the prostate. He keeps them inside forever, and the radiation theoretically kills the tumor, but doesn't harm anything else. This is supposedly better than surgery or multiple radiation treatments. Anyway he was there to have the doctor check him out and make sure that he's indeed willing to perform the procedure, and happily he is. So Dad will be back in SA in a couple of weeks to have this done. Sadly, I'll be in Atlanta when he returns otherwise I'd hang out with him.

Thursday is usually class, but this past Thursday one of the two students was unable to make it, so I called the class and went to dinner with River and Famous Pagan Author Judy Harrow. She's doing some workshop or other today (but in San Antonio, and I'm tapped out anyway) but decided it'd be nice to meet River, since they've been corresponding by email. It was an odd meeting; on hand were a couple of others River had invited who somewhat monopolized the conversation so Judy didn't really have a lot to say. I kind of just hung back and didn't say anything since I didn't feel like I had much to contribute; in fact when River and another person got off on some topic, Judy and I started talking about home decorating. Overall it was fine, but something hit my stomach the wrong way and I had to bug out early because I was afraid I was going to puke. That was a pisser. But hey, I got to meet Judy Harrow!

Yesterday I took Bolt to the vet for his yearly check-up (a little late; it was due before Christmas. Oh, well.) and to get some mats shaved out of his fur. Thankfully, he is in pretty good shape. They wanted to check his kidney levels since they were a bit on the high side last year, and check his blood pressure- neither of which he was at all happy about. But his teeth and eyes looked fine, and they got the mats out of his fur with little hassle. Now he has a bare patch on his back about the size of 2 credit cards; he almost looks like he has a saddle. He's been very loving and cuddly (for him) since he got home, so I think he appreciates it. If only he would let me comb his fur more often!

Dinner was home-made spaghetti. It was going to be dinner for 4, but Cathy and Dave got a chance to do some fun out of town thing that they won't get another opportunity for another few months, so they took it and now we have a fuck-load of home-made spaghetti. Want some?

Today is general housework. I'm trying to push hub to fix the hot tub which has been broken for way too long, and my neck and shoulders are absolutely killing me. The hot tub would fix that, and I'd really rather use the hot tub than drugs. But there is no hot tub! So I'll get dressed and go get electrical tape and nag some more. :P
