Class was good Thursday. There's going to be a 3 week hiatus now, though, because next week one of the two students will miss, and there is something I want to attend that night, so this was a good excuse to call the class. The next 2 weeks after that, I will be in Georgia. I'm getting excited about it... River has said she would rather drive it in 2 days, and I'm caravaning with her since I've never driven to Atlanta. I was hoping she'd want to do it in one, but this is probably better.
I've been wracking my puny human brain for some idea for an anniversary prezzie for our Pope and her husband, and I may have hit something. I'll see if it pans out.
Saturday was Partially Fortunate Retail Experience Day. First, we went to the pool store to pick up our pump and heater for the hot tub, which are still not working. One hopes that by hooking them up they may decide to work, but if not we have the number of a guy who is willing to check it out. I'm pleased that they charged me less than $20 for labor.
After that a trip to Target to pick up an air popper (those are pretty hard to find, BION) and some things for the trip like something to sleep in (I usually go in the buff, but that wouldn't be appreciated I'm sure) and squeezy bottles for shampoo and whatall. It was cram-packed, but not as bad as Wal-Mart. I don't feel so much like I'm going against everything innocent and good as I do when I shop at Wal-Mart.
Then, to Zorba's for lunch. Holy crap, that is some fantastic food! I had the usual gyro platter. The pilaf was especially tasty, and I noticed the olive oil tasted like olives! Oh, yes, it was good.
Then we walked over to the phone place, where I asked if it would be worth it to change my mobile plan so that I could call my sweetie from Atlanta without racking up big phone bills. The nice lady basically said it was not going to be worth it, and mentioned that the plan we're on (unlimited minutes to each other) does not exist anymore, so when we tried to switch back it would be a worse plan. She also pointed out that we have text messaging, which I was not aware of, and that this is the same (10 cents a message) no matter where I am, so I can message hubby from Atlanta or anywhere for a dime. So sales lady didn't try to sell me something I didn't want! Yay!
Next to Radio Shack, which just happened to be the store next to the phone store and I happened to be carrying the weird battery pack from a cordless phone that needed replacing. Huzzah!
Finally we walked over to Home Despot and found out that our shrubbery out front is covered with powdery mildew, which is very common and a piece of cake to treat as well as inexpensive, and got a better aphid spray. I wanted to go natural, but I just can't see buying a box of a million ladybugs for a handful of plants. But we got out of there for next to nothing and headed home.
I worked on the pool some- there's still a fuckload of oak pollen in the bottom of it, because the pool bot is stupid and seems to get hung up or stuck in certain areas. I decided it would work best if I just jumped in the pool and guided the bot around, so I got in for the first time this year. It was freezing but I was able to get used to it quickly thanks to my blubber layer. It's somehow peaceful to work on the pool, so I enjoyed myself and hub sat out and chatted with me while I puttered. Then we took a bit of a nap and watched silly things on TV.
I am back on my later schedule. I traded with someone last June so that I was coming in and leaving an hour early, but she needed to trade back for some reason. If it had just been a week earlier, DST wouldn't have affected me. Oh, well. Since
austingoddess has had luck with nice things falling out of the sky for her, I'll try it too.
Dear Universe, I would like to be able to work my shifts on consecutive days during the week, no more Sunday shifts, starting really early, like 6 or 7am so I can get out really early too. Thank you- love, Stacy.
