Class went well, and Bean brought some stuff over to stay for a bit. The next day (yesterday) was Gordon's birthday so I hung out with him pretty much all day. First, we were going to go to Wild Basin to see the butterflies. One of the people at the Full Moon tour said the best time to see them was first thing in the morning, so we went around 9am. The lady there said never listen to astronomers talk about butterflies, the insects are cold-blooded and don't usually get going until it's warmed up a little more. She suggested after lunch, and Gordon offered to throw money at her if she would be a tour guide.

So we went to get breakfast. I had planned to buy him kolaches, but as I was picking mine out, he paid for his. Then when I was paying for mine, he ate it- so there wasn't much point in him sitting and watching me eat, so he dropped me off and headed off for lunch with some friends. At 1, he picked me up and we went on a 2 hour hike with the lovely and knowledgeable Kiki. She pointed out what plants and trees she knew, and the few butterflies and other insects we saw. There weren't that many out, but that was fine- I was more in it for the walk and the view. I did get to stick my nose in some blooming mountain laurel- just about my favorite flower (after bluebonnets) and they've been blooming really late this year. The last few years they've bloomed as early as February; I think the cold winter caused them to delay.

I went home and rested a bit. There was a plan for the New Moon to hit Wild Basin again for their Starlight tour that evening with some friends. I was really exhausted, not so much from the hike but a combination of things that included just not getting enough sleep the night before. So I started to take a nap, but Gordon showed up early and we went, though I was beginning to get a pounding headache.

The Starlight tour was cool, and afterwards we went to Chuy's. I have never been a big fan of Chuy's, but everyone else seems to like them so I went along. Their chips were good, but that was about it. I got a dish that was way, way too hot for me, and didn't finish half of it. My headache was worse, and now I was feeling nauseous. By the time I got home I was ready to hurl. But I managed to hold off, though I ended up going to sleep right away. Ugh. I haven't felt that bad in a long time. Chuy's hates me.

I have seen quite a lot of spring, though, between the multiple trips to Wild Basin and just driving around. I love this time of year.
