Book Club Tuesday was fun. Did I mention Book Club? Aside from the rule about not talking about Book Club, I decided that I really wanted to review Judy Harrow's 'Wicca Covens' with other people. I posted on the local CoG list, and no one has responded except, predictably, Gordon, until the last meeting when a dedicant of mine asked to come along. Well, OK, if this is going to be a grove thing, that's OK too. It's good discussion, over good food. And the dedicant is making more noises about Initiation, so although I had initially envisioned the discussion to take place among coven leaders, I'm not really disappointed.

Last night was Cathy and Dave dinner. CD2 is usually on alternating Fridays, the ones where we're not playing D&D, but we've been thrown off by other plans being made for Fridays so we moved it to Wednesday at least for this week. Bob was unhappy about something and asked to come over, so I called Cathy and she said it was fine if we brought him along. So first, to get dessert. And pool supplies.

The pool place wasn't open last Saturday, when we really needed to go, so I called to make sure someone was there. The heater in our hot tub has been non-functional for way too long, and I decided it needed to be fixed even if I have to put it on a credit card. So after cajoling hub into disassembling it enough to take it in, I put it in the van and dragged it to the pool place. They said it'd be $25 labor, plus whatever the heater element cost- anywhere from $30 to $80. Ow. I'll know by the end of the week. I also got some hosey things for the pool-bot cleaning device to replace the old worn ones, and it works a hell of a lot better.

Then I decided since Cathy was making paella, I'd get baklava for dessert (not the same region exactly, but it was close and I like baklava) from the Greek restaurant. I got there at 2:20, and their sign said they closed at 2:15... but I whined prettily, and not only did they sell me baklava, but also a gyro lunch. They got something like a 50% tip for their trouble, but it was money well-spent.

So Bob showed up, and we hung around 'til hub got off work, then went to CD2. The paella was wonderful- and very colorful! There was also salad and steamed garlicky squash. Conversation was good as always, except for a little anti-drug-war politicking by hub and Bob, who both got on sort of a roll even though they were preaching to the choir. Then hub, Bob and Dave geeked out while Cathy and I talked witchy stuff, and she gave me a bunch of notebooks from when she was into Wicca. Since she hasn't cracked them in years, she figured I'd enjoy raiding them for inspiration or what have you- which I probably will!

Afterwards, Bob came home with us so we could watch another episode of 'The Prisoner'. He discovered that his phone was off, and Bean had been really trying to reach him. Things are not going well with her and Colin so she's coming to crash over here for a few days. It's a yucky situation, I just hope it can resolve in the least painful way for all concerned. :(
