So there I am, cleaning the pool as best I can what with it being Spring and the oak trees, which I dearly love, are dumping vast quantities of their sex organs in the pool. Anyway, step 42 is cleaning out the basket at the front end of the filter. Said basket is usually full of leaves and other seasonal detritus, all swirling around in a toiletesque whirlpool as the pump draws the water into the filter. Basically it's hard to see exactly what's in there. Today there was this white dingus among the leaves that looked sort of like a long twist tie or something. So I reach in to pull it out and what do I hold in my hand? About 4 inches of snake. Not the complete snake, mind you. Not even the front half or the end half. No, I'm holding 4 inches of the middle half of a snake. It was pale grey on the back and white on most of the rest of it, though there's no telling if this was the original color because of the chlorine and all.
What happened to the snake? Where is the rest of it? Poor snake, he's all dead, and I like snakes. And AAAAAAAIIIIIIIEEEEE! Not in that particular order.
