After taking a really close look at the fish in the bumper, it looks like it might have actually been caused by the original collision. I don't know how all of us missed seeing it the first time, but I took it to a body shop per Gailon's advice and the nice guy told me that it appears that Skank-ho's muffler banged into it at an angle, causing the body of the fish, then scraped along in a crescent shape, making the tail. This would be a happy thing, as it would all fall under the collision I suppose, plus I'm not having to worry about a retaliatory Skank-ho harassing my mom.
Gordon speculated this when he looked at it, then when we took pics of it this morning, hub agreed with Gordon. When I told him the shop guys agreed with him, hub said "I have l33t Quincy sk1llz!" Indeed!
This shop, as I mentioned, was highly recommended by Gailon. He said I would be much better off if the insurance guys dealt with them rather than come to look at the car here and talk me into something that I would be unhappy with- such as replacing the damaged parts with used parts or after-market stuff. The shop guys concurred, and said they would watch after my car and only use new Honda parts. They are quite experienced in dealing with insurance guys, which is a very happy thing. At this point, we're thinking Farmer's will refuse to pay but that's fine, because shop guys said my insurance (State Farm) is much better anyway, and less likely to try and screw me. I'm just going to be stuck with the deductible (ow) but it beats my other option, which was that I hadn't planned to get insurance at all except for liability, and then I'd really be screwed. They think they'll have to replace the hood, possibly the bumper, and possibly the stuff where the hood latches in the front, and will be around $2000. Of which I only have to pay $500.
