Seems like a lot has been going on that I've neglected to journal about. So, the scattershot approach.
Hub went to a new doctor today. She seems very cool, I like her, she's cute (not that that matters) and she listens. So, even though I had gone to mine just yesterday and wasn't totally frustrated with him, I called my insurance and have switched her to my primary physician. When I get any more money (come on, first of the month!) I guess I should go see her for a first patient visit.
So yeah, went to old doc about my stoopid allergies. He was supposed to check 'yes' on a form that asked simply 'has she had allergies in the past 2 years.' I went in, he looked at me and said 'how long have you had allergies?' and I said 'since about 1984'. Then he basically checked the box and handed me the form and that was it. He wrote it in his chart, so I think it was that he wanted to have actually documented that we'd talked about it before he signed off on anything. It makes sense. Still.
Brö's birfday is today. Well, was (1/23). I felt bad that I couldn't afford to really get him anything (refinance is totally in the crapper) so I took my plastic to Toy Joy and got him a few small, bizarre trinkets of the type only Toy Joy has. He got a teeny Godzilla, some brain-meltingly cute kitten cling stickers with Japanese writing on them, a Jesus action figure ('with gliding motion!'), and a strange fridge magnet. He liked it, and we're going tomorrow to give him home-cooked food.
I also splurged and got myself a phoenix. I collect them, and there just isn't a lot around. It was a lot easier when I was 14 and liked unicorns. Anyway, it's this garish Chinese plastic fluorescent green-pink-orange and pearly bird about a foot long with sweeping peacock tail feathers. And there is a baby playing a flute on it's back. And when you hit this switch, it lights up inside. AND plays 'It's a Small World' at about 300 db. The one in the store played what the clerk told me was the Chinese national anthem. This one did not. It's hideous, and I love it.
I went to visit my friend Natalie Wednesday. I was nearby, so I called her. She said she was having a seizure, but to come on over. She started having them a few years ago, and will have one every few months. It's some sort of diskinesia distonic thing where she's completely lucid and can talk fine, but her arms and legs and sometimes her whole back just twists up and goes in random directions. The doctors that she's seen have no idea what's going on, especially since she can't do it on demand and show them. Anyway I sat on the couch with her and held her hand (which never moved when I was holding it) and tried to help ground her a little. She has quite the menagerie these days; cats, her blond dog Sappho, gerbils, and new additions since I last saw her- a couple of lovebirds that were flying around the house (the cats were outside) and one of those dwarf bunnies that is about the size of a softball and is the cutest little fuzzy thing!
I miss Nat. We used to be very, very close friends, and shared everything. When she had kids, I couldn't share that, and when I left the coven we were both in we just went off in different directions. But I still love her. It was really nice to see her.
It's very cold for here, but was clear today. I can feel spring waiting.
I saw a beautiful show on water. Water is one of my favorite things. I think I want my spirituality to be simpler this year. I want it to be like water.
I'm pretty sure I'll be going to Georgia in April.
We got these very cool wall mounted lamps for the bedroom with some Christmas gift certificates. You know, like the ones they have in hotels? They have a swing arm and a conical metal shade, and are all brushed steel.
I'm going to see 'Holy Well and Sacred Flame' again Wednesday, and Blast! on Saturday. My head is fed! I also got a download of Acid, this music generating program that is awesome. I've made 2 very short songs on it already, one of which is stuck in my head. I will enjoy playing with this one.
