I like the 70's channel on my satellite radio.

I got in my car for a short drive, and 'Tell Me Something Good' (Rufus and Chaka Khaaaaan) came on, a song I love from my childhood despite it's adult subject matter. Then 'Sex Machine' (James Brown) came on, which I mainly am fond of because of Threeve's excellent Rock Band rendition, but as I was listening to it, I realized, shit there is some really excellent bass playing in this song, I may have to listen to some more James Brown (incidentally, it seems to be kind of hard to find a James Brown compilation on Spotify that isn't either a Christmas album or live, and when I'm familiarizing myself with something I greatly prefer studio versions to live ones, but it's a minor complaint in the grand scheme of things). Then 'You Make Loving Fun' (I think, it was something in that vein) came on. Then 'Superstition' came on. Yeah, I like that station.

Look for the James Brown box set Star Time---it's not perfect, but it's about as reasonable an introduction you can get.
