The weather has been beautiful. Clear, lows in the 40s, highs in the 60-70s. The short days are a bummer, but otherwise it can be this way all the time, as far as I'm concerned.

I finished writing Yule. It looks to be another good ritual. I think I like that almost as much as teaching, truth be told.

Friend Karen from high school called- her cat died. :( He was nine years old, and apparently had a heart attack right next to her- how awful. She is a psychologist and it's a job that suits her well. She's very analytical and sometimes her calls feel like 'report on life status: marriage, career, family.' I don't mind, though. I need to call her more often.

Hub took his new fancy-ass cooking pot and made a pot roast. It was some of the best pot roast I've ever had, and he liked it too, which is cool because he said he'd never been a big fan previously. But now that he knows how to make it correctly, he sees the beauty that is pot roast. Since Gordon helped chip in to buy the pot and was owed a home-cooked meal, we called him over and he brought his friend from Berkeley. It was fun and probably evil to make a math professor from Berkeley watch 'Trading Spaces' and 'Dude Where's My Car' but he seemed agreeable enough.

After that we went on a walk to look at neighborhood Christmas lights. We also wanted to burn some calories because we were feeling foundered- Gordon was in charge of dessert and brought white chocolate macadamia nut cheesecake- zounds! So we were both feeling pretty bloated. It was a nice walk, and we had a good soak in the hot tub afterwards.
