Man, I am so sleepy. I got a good Wiccan book- I tell ya, that hasn't happened in awhile. Anyway, it's this one, and isn't anything like what the title makes you think it is. It talks about philosophy, history (such as there is, in the last 50 years, and yes, it gives Crowley some credit) and talks smack about a lot of the current trends in Wicca. I disagree with some of his conclusions, but the fact that stuff is being discussed at all is a big step forward. It also makes me think I should go ahead and write a book, though I'm not sure what exactly I'd write about. Hub thinks I ought to go for it, though.
Anyway, I was up 'til about 4am reading it, finished it off in one day. Fortunately I had taken half the day off today for the Empty Bowl Project- a local pottery studio has a million bowls, you pick one and pay $15, and get it filled with soup from a local restaurant. I've gone to almost all of them in the past 5 years or so, and I always enjoy it. I got 2 bowls- one a standard soup/cereal/ice cream bowl with blue and green glaze and this interesting sine-wave pattern, and the other is mostly black glaze and looked like a little cauldron- I figured I'd use that for scrying. The proceeds go to the local food bank. But so I got to sleep in, though I still feel wiped. Blah.
