Seems like I haven't posted about stuff I've been doing lately... it's been cold and rainy forever and I just want to be all slug-like. I tried to get to the pet store to shave the Bowiemeister, because the mats in his fur are unremoveable. But there were scheduling problems the whole time, so I'm just going to have the vet do it Thursday when he gets his tune-up.
I also tried to get some black neon tetras for the 55 gal, since it tested at zero ammonia or ammonium or whatever it is, which means it's cycled now. But the place that I'd trust to get them from said that theirs were sick, so they're not going to sell them for awhile yet. This is what makes them trustworthy, by the way, but waaah.
Hub finally painted the 2nd-floor lofty-type wall that looms over the living room on the first floor. We'd been meaning to get around to it because it was the same putty grey-pink-brown as the now green wall in the trippy room. He did it pretty much with no help from me, because I wanted to pound out a ritual before one of the Elders came for a visit. It's now a deep cobalt bluish-purple, and we hung my wedding kimono (heavy white silk with a phoenix and floral design in silver thread) in front of it. Yaaaay! I think it looks wonderful.
The Elder came over, requested a couple of revisions/additions to the ritual, then Initiate came over and we all discussed what happens if the Initiate leaves the Trad versus leaving the coven. Initiate is going through a lot in her life and doesn't want the responsibilities of coven membership, but likes to lead the occasional open ritual for a local witchy shop. She asked for release from the coven but wasn't sure what she was expected to give to the Trad, if anything, or what her responsibilities/restrictions were. So we hashed all that stuff out, told her what was expected of her and she explained to us what was going on with her. It was a very informative get-together, and it looks like this can all be worked out with a minimum of fuss. Partings are sad, but when everyone is grown-up about it, we can all go our ways feeling good about it.
Last night was new Sealab 2021, Aquateen, and Brak. Hub and I both laughed our asses off. They sure haven't lost it, those animators. My favorite line was when they explored the sunken ship in Sealab: "Let's get out of this non-treasure having bastard."
