I'm sitting here researching cars, looking at all the wonderful, cheap, low mileage Toyotas and Hondas... looking at greener alternatives like electric, hybrid, biodiesel... if I had my druthers, I'd either get a Prius or a Matrix, BTW... and I call my family members to tell them about Old Blue's impending demise. My mom practically screams 'get a Toyota!' as does my brother- they both got Corollas this year. So I call Dad, and he lays this shit on me: his wife is suing the hospital in Eagle Pass for wrongful termination related to a disability, and they stand to get a pretty large settlement, possibly as soon as Christmas. If this does happen, he said he'd give me his....

Aaaaaaaaaiiiiiiiieee!!! *rend garment* To mangle a quote from 'Office Space', Ford SUVs represent all that is soulless and evil in the auto industry! Consumer Reports hates them! The mileage is wretchedly awful! But it would be a free car! It doesn't appear to be worth much, but I might still think seriously about trading it in for something else, should this even happen and become an issue.

Dude, as much as I sing the praises of the Toyota Echo, a free car's TONS better!! Gas mileage be damned, it's all about dollar mileage (and here I work in the environmental field!).

BTW, they say that the interior of the Echo is just as spacious as a corolla. They may be right. If not, it's definitely close, and with more headroom...
