I fell asleep after watching an old SNL where they made fun of Nader for basically having unrealistic visions of what the American public is capable of- while it was mean-spirited, I can't help but agree on some levels, though it's more an indictment of the American public's general apathy than Nader's optimism. I think this contributed to a dream I had.
I was with my dad and several other people, and he handed out pieces of roughly-chopped wood. He then asked us all to draw pictures on the wood of what we think the perfect world would look like. I had a vision that I was having a hard time getting on to my piece of wood, and briefly looked for a larger one but ended up sticking with what I had.
I drew a cabin in the woods. As I was drawing it, I felt like I was there, and able to show people around in my vision. It was in a piney woods and there was snow on the ground. I was sitting out front, tending a fire in a pit and reading a book- enjoying the outside. I stood up and showed people around. There were other cabins being built, but the building materials were all Earth-friendly and there weren't any typical front lawns, just xeriscaping and native plants. It was like a Green suburb, sort of, but there were no streets and no billboards anywhere. I remember drawing the trees one by one, then covering some of them with snow. I also wrote a wooden sign at the entrance to the subdivision that said something like 'Entering Green Community; NO advertising, gasoline, corporations, [and a couple of others] Enacted this day [some date in 2004] President Ralph Nader.'
I don't know if this is really my fantasy land, but it sounds pretty cool.
