Eric worked on the chair for most of Saturday, and I dicked around until it was time to get ready for the Halloween party. Since it was way out in the country and I'd never been out there, Kirby was kind enough to offer me a ride. Eric wanted to grab some food and I again forgot about my BV coach being scheduled to call me that afternoon, and between that and my poor planning I ended up showing up at Kirby's late. I had Eric help dress me and put on a load of make-up and grabbed a bottle of hooch and was good to go.
It was a long drive, but we had plenty of time to gossip, which was fun. We were about the first people there so I meandered around while Kirby was actually helpful. We stuck around 'til about 10pm and then she was ready to go. It was okay; I didn't know a lot of people there very well but I knew enough people that it wasn't an awful slog. I called Lynn and Stevie on the way home, both of whom had mentioned coming out but hadn't made it before we left. Lynn wasn't feeling well, and Stevie was at another party. He invited me to it, and I gave some thought to going since I was still pretty awake and hell, had gotten all gussied up anyway. But it sounded like Stevie would've been the only person I knew there, and that would be a bit of an unfair burden on Stevie since I tend to glom on people I know in unfamiliar social situations, so I just went home.
I made good use of having gotten all gussied up anyway and had Eric take some pictures, which is always a fun mix of him getting to put on his photographer hat which he enjoys, and frustrating technical errors which he does not enjoy so much. It seems like the best pictures were when I was feeling especially annoyed at the technical errors, which probably says something about me that I don't feel like examining right now.
Sunday services went well. This was the one where we sang with the children's choir. They were terrible as expected, but one does not sing with a children's choir expecting a demonstration of outstanding musical talent. They were obviously having a good time and the parents were just thrilled, so it was all fun. I crashed in the afternoon, and then Brö invited us over to watch the Iron Man Rifftrax and otherwise have some nice low-key Brö-time.
It was pretty chilly this morning, and I'm glad I got my new winter gloves. It was a beautiful ride; I love this time of year.
