I'm going to talk about a dream I had. If you find that insufferably boring, feel free to stop reading.

It started out in an unfamiliar house in an unfamiliar town, which was apparently right next to Mount Rushmore (I'm fairly certain there is not a town next to Mount Rushmore). The weather was dark, windy and stormy and there was a lot of lightning forking through dark purple clouds, and I was about to go out to take some photos, because I recalled hearing that lightning hits Mount Rushmore frequently and I wanted to capture a shot of that happening.

The house was full of friendly people and warm light. Someone came up to me and said excitedly "She won!" At this point it came to the front of my mind that I was so despondent about the presidential election that I went to bed the night before without finding out the results of the election, but against the odds, she (and apparently "she" was Hillary Clinton?) was elected president. I remember thinking "she has so much to do, so much to fix" and then just being overwhelmed with relief, then hope. I burst into tears.

I went to the kitchen, and there was Ellen, futzing around with something or other and asking me some mundane question. I stopped her and grabbed her hand and looked into her eyes and said "She won! She won! I'm so relieved it's finally over!" and her face lit up, and we hugged and sobbed with joy.

The other people in the house were busy with other things, and I wanted to be alone with my thoughts, so I went outside. The storm had stopped; there were still deep indigo clouds churning in the sky but the setting Sun was lighting up Mount Rushmore, bathing it in a warm golden light. In my dream brain, the faces were George Washington, Abraham Lincoln, and "some other guys", and I saw that the Washington face had been destroyed and was reduced to chunks of rubble at the base of the mountain, leaving a smooth, blank spot in the monument. I wanted to take a photo of this, because beams of gold light were illuminating this scene and I thought it would make an amazing shot, which I planned to post on Twitter. I couldn't get an clear shot because the house where I was staying was too close to other buildings that obscured the view, so I quickly started walking up the street, hoping that when I got to the top of the hill the view would be better and the light would still be good. I heard some talking and chanting, and heard but didn't see a group of Native Americans, and stopped because I didn't want to bust into whatever thing they were doing and disrupt it. So I just stood on the edge of the road, enjoyed the obscured view I had while the Sun set and dusk fell and the sky became fully dark.

I just let the relief wash over me. I can still feel it.
