After a late start and lunch at my favorite place by the Ronald Reagan building (it kind of hurts to type that), we walked over to the Air and Science Museum on the Mall. We'd been told by a local that it "sucks" compared to the one in Chantilly, but the one in Chantilly is 30 miles away versus two, so the Mall wins. And it doesn't suck! I am not so big on the Air but I make up for it with my love of the Space, and even though said local told us they never update anything, he lies- there's a lot more stuff going on in the space program than I realized. My biggest love is planetary exploration, and I got a brainful of that.

We got back a little after six and decided to finally try the Italian restaurant here in the hotel... it was expensive and they served stuff on square plates, so I ordered a lot assuming the portions would be tiny. But they were actually pretty large, so I ended up being foundered on really good (if a little bland) Italian food. We spent the rest of the evening relaxing and went to bed relatively early.

The only downside was dreaming that I had gotten my nose cut off in a knife fight. Lookit me, I'm Tycho Brahe! Mostly what I remember was holding my bloody nose pressed up to my face in a washcloth and trying to figure out how to get to a hospital.

Today- the National Museum of American History. History wasn't one of my best subjects, but this looks like it has all sorts of interesting cultural tchotchkes, like the ruby slippers from the Wizard of Oz and Julia Child's entire kitchen. Later!
