can we just have this *one* day?

It's 7-something and I'm perusing my usual links before my shift starts. Dear husband glances over my shoulder and crabbily remarks "oh great, all the Obama hype, it's like people think he's Jesus or something." Dude, can we not put aside the cynicism for just a few hours and enjoy the moment? This is what I'm saying; people are too quick to assume that "happy" equals "stupid" in this country, and if you see someone being happy about something, it automatically means they've checked their brain at the door. Nu-uh! Maybe if you're apolitical it's hard to understand what this is like- and that's fine, but do me a favor and just give me a pass from all the it-doesn't-make-any-difference doomsaying for just this one day. I promise I won't empty our bank account or run off and join any cults between now and tomorrow. I think I like Content's take on it best- you know, I was gonna quote it, but just read the whole thing here then watch this video on a continuous loop until the inauguration comes on (again, thanks to Content for this find)...
