Nov. 12th, 2008 09:33 amI'm ready for the weekend already. Luckily today's my last day at the state 'til Monday. I'm really tired of my very noisy co-workers socializing constantly. I asked them to keep it down once; I'm about ready to bitch to my supervisor if it keeps up, and I hate doing that. My leave has also been fucked up, which is frustrating.
I'll be 41 Sunday. Eric's taking me to a really nice restaurant; I'm also having an everyone's invited dinner Saturday and a all-purpose party for Scorpios Friday. I could conceivably get to play dress-up for three nights in a row! That's pretty funky (and probably unlikely for that matter).
Last night Stevie and I and a friend of his went to the Alamo downtown to watch the Rock Band contest with John Redcorn (the guy from King of the Hill who has a real name but I don't recall it offhand). We came in a bit late but watched about 8-10 bands perform. Stevie had tried to talk his band into competing, but they declined for various reasons. It's too bad, too, because his band would have most likely blown the other guys away. There was some half-assed attempts at having some stage presence, but none of them did especially well on any of the songs they did. They were all on expert level and it was set to no-fail mode, which was just as well because several would have failed out otherwise. Some of that could be attributed to the fact that they were on someone else's set-up and not in their living rooms, but not all by any means. Stevie was incensed. His obvious greatness went unrecognized! It was pretty tragic. But it was fun to go anyway; I had a fun time.
