BV learning curve
Oct. 1st, 2008 01:49 pmI've done three BV shifts now, probably about 1500 reviews. I think I'm getting the hang of it. We had a 'difficult client' training last night, and some of my more panicky co-workers asked a bunch of questions that pretty much confirmed that what I'm doing is more or less fine; if I get a coach one of these days who tells me I'm fucking things up I'll fix it but I'm not too worried.
I came to Statewide yesterday to see if they'd come up with a schedule for me since I asked to drop a shift. They're trying to get me to work Saturday and until 8pm, but I think I can talk them out of it and so does my boss. I'd hoped they would've been able to move faster on this, but it's the government and their speed has always been set to 'glacial'. Hopefully by next week we'll have something figured out and I can officially go to 20 hours here, and pick up a couple more shifts with BV.
Currently I'm doing 12 hours- Saturday 8am to noon and Monday and Tuesday noon to 4pm. What I'd really love is to do all mornings if they'll let me, and I'll pick up at least one more shift. I've decided that working in bed on the laptop sounds fun but doesn't work well in practice. Having a mouse makes the job scads easier. Also, I think getting out of bed and getting dressed will probably help with the discipline aspect of all this. Being ready to go at 8am is a bit of a pain, but it gets the shift out of the way and I usually wake up around then anyway, even if I don't spring out of bed.
