On Friday, my coven turned ten years old. That's not a bad run for a coven at all. I probably would've said something about it Friday, but atypically I had misremembered the date and thought it was Monday. Anyway, happy birthday Phoenix Moon Grove!
Over the weekend, we did things. Saturday, Eric and I rode to Longhorn Caverns in Burnet. It's a good hour away. I discovered that while braiding my hair and stuffing it up in my helmet is fine for a 10 mile drive, it is absolutely not fine for more than about 20 minutes, then it feels like a knife is being slowly bored through your skull where the braid's being mashed. It's easily fixable but having my hair hanging out of the helmet is very bad for it. So we're going to figure something out next time we go on a trip. I'm thinking of something a friend of mine with long hair used to do involving a panty hose leg. Anyway, the cave was really interesting and the ride was a lot of fun.
Sunday we had a pot-luck to celebrate the grove's birthday, then class. I also sang at the first service and it went very well. I was one of three tenors, and was off by myself, and I continue to grow in confidence in my singing ability. What I hadn't known was that we sang this same song (the Bobby McFerrin 23rd Psalm one) at a big Christmas concert that a bunch of other church choirs sing at that is hosted by a Catholic church several years back. Because it refers to God as "She" apparently it pissed a lot of people off, and the UU church got nasty letters about it. People get twisted up over silly things.
Monday I mostly caught up on sleep. Yesterday I got my car inspected and took it in for a good working-over because I'm going to drive it to Atlanta next week, but it being a Honda it barely needs anything done to it. I love that car. I also went to the doctor for follow-up after the ER visit and a general physical, and I'm in about as good shape as the Honda, so I got that goin' for me.
Last night, Eric rolled over and woke me up about 10 minutes after I fell asleep, and somehow this just completely threw off my going-to-sleep mechanism, and I didn't get back to sleep 'til about 6am. So I'm not at work, but if I can manage to go back to sleep and get a couple of hours I might go in this afternoon.
Oh yeah, and a hurricane is headed right for us. I'm not too worried being fairly far inland, but you never know. That ought to be interesting.
