death comes to us all
Aug. 30th, 2008 05:47 pmI was pretty sure when I was going to the ER Friday that I'd be returning home, but I wasn't positive. I've heard tell that leaving the world without letting the folks close to you know what you want done with your carcass and all of your stuff can be extremely unpleasant for them to deal with. Especially if you have lots and lots of stuff.
I've made a document called 'Death, open in case of' that I've told Eric about. It has instructions for disposing of my body, funeral wishes, and lists where I want all of my stuff to go. It has some other minor things like passwords to my online accounts and who to contact. I'm sure it would be best if I were to run this by a lawyer and have it notarized and shit, but I also bet that in the absence of any other documents, just the existence of this one will make things a lot easier in case Eric gets stuck with having to deal with the aftermath of my unplanned departure.
Think about making a similar document too, will you?
