We've entered the season I like to call "really fucking hot". Like, when you go outside the sky mashes you down and you sweat like a pig and fight the impulse to run back inside. I think I was probably genetically built for colder climes, but I'm here and I'm staying, so I put up with it. It will last into September.

It helps that there's plenty of swimming opportunities around. I have a park pass for Travis County so I like to hit the one by the lake and swim. It's a bit of a hike down to the limestone shelves that surround this man-made lake, and because of the drought it's even more of a mountain-goaty clamber down to the lake itself. But the water is clear and warming up nicely and absolutely teeming with fish (sun perch, I think, among others) who will try to eat you if you sit still in the shallows long enough. That's probably more amusing than I make it sound.

I went yesterday, swimming and sitting in the shade to read and swimming some more. Then home for some grub, and Bob visit. He used to practically live here when he first came to Austin, but he got a girlfriend, moved south, and made many cool and insane friends to hang with. So it was nice to see him and catch up, along with his friend Adam who was mostly quiet but occasionally made a really smart-ass funny comment.

Today, I plan to try to put together the Trad website. I rashly volunteered to do it, thinking "how hard could it be? I know total morons who have websites." Well, there's putting up a website, and there's putting up a good website, and doing the latter actually takes a knowledge of programming that I don't happen to possess. I've been clinging to Eric's ankle and whining, but he's trying to get a very rudimentary understanding of how this works into my brain. I'm going to hack away at it today. Soon, I may be able to ask "where is the bathroom?" in html. Wish me luck.

Wellll, Kirk Cameron thinks I'm going to hell. Aw, damn.

I coded (if it can be thus dignified) for like six hours, then stopped. I think I'm making pretty decent progress, but it sure gets tedious. I'm probably a quarter done at best.

Eric made goulash for dinner. Not official Hungarian stew, but macaroni and hamburger and whatever else was lying around. Of course, he planned it a little more than that, and behold, it was good! Good enough for Jehovah, even.

Oh yeah; Eric wanted me to mention that I got those shoes with the toes. I think they are cool! He cringes away from them. At least I am not wearing them with capris pants. Sexxxy! I am amused at how many 'warnings' they have about only wearing them for a little bit at a time at first while you get used to going barefoot. Hell, those were the first shoes I put on in 16 hours or so, I know how to walk barefoot for fuck's sake.

Okay- this meme could get odd: Ask me to take a picture of any aspect of my life that you're interested in/curious about - it can be anything from the house I live in to my favorite shoes. Leave your choice here as a comment, and I will reciprocate by taking the pictures and posting them as an LJ entry. That way you get to know a little bit about my life.
