I am bummed that M&M seems to have stopped making dark chocolate M&Ms. They brought them out when Star Wars 3 came out as their 'dark side of the Force™' candy. Which is fine, whatever they need to do to get the word out. But now they're GONE! You can get plain milk chocolate, with peanuts, with almonds, with peanut butter, with that weird crunchy stuff, and maybe you can still even get the tres leches ones in some stores (not recalling if I've seen those lately), so why do they think there's not room on the shelf for dark chocolate ones? Do they have any idea how many broke hormonal women probably depended on them? Yeah, it's not sterling quality chocolate, but sometimes you just want to go slumming, you know? Maybe I will send them a letter of complaint.

Wow, the last answer I would've expected... wampire quiz )

I just noticed that I worked an extra eight hours three months ago and never got paid for them. I also worked an extra eight hours two months ago, and I should be paid for that this month. I almost called work from home to find out what the hell is up with mah money, but I realized that I would be sent to 18 different people, none of whom knows where the money is, and I might as well do this when I go to work tomorrow (where it will go a lot faster than it ever would over the phone) and get paid for it.

Out electric bill came; we were hoping it would be really low since we have these new windows in, but it's not. My theory is that it's because it covers a couple of weeks with the crappy windows, and the week when they were installing them, which included substantial periods of time where there was just a freaking huge hole in the side of the house letting out all the nice air conditioning. So yeah, that's not gonna help yet.

I've started the latest Harry Potter book. While I still want to bitch slap the lot of them and I think Rowling is rather ham-handed with some of the characterizations, I'm liking this one a lot better than the fifth one.

I've started the daunting project of rearranging the books in the bookcases. I put all the books I have series of in one. The other will be pagany books, but I'm not sure which ones. I do want to have a system of some kind, I just haven't yet decided how to categorize stuff and thus divide it in some kind of (at least to me) logical manner.

Our downstairs TV has started behaving as if it's going to go paws-up, so we went to Costco and got a cheap one to replace the one upstairs, and will put the upstairs one downstairs, and then maybe around Christmas will eventually replace that one too with something nice. Hub's been waiting to see what technology will end up sticking around; there's several out there and the dust hasn't yet settled. But the one we got at Costco was under $200 and does everything we want it to, including has a dvd player built in which is nice since our close-out at K-mart dvd player had croaked some time ago. We were able to watch porn upstairs again! Huzzah!

I'm not in a lake-going mood today, but need to do something. Maybe I'll exercise-bike and read some more Harry Potter.
austin_tycho: crater (Bolt)
I took a picture of Bolt (picture one here) and cleaned it up a bit in Photoshop (okay, I guess this gets more expensive if you actually count the cost of the camera I got for Yule and the pitrated copy of Photoshop. Arr.) and colored in the eyes, since the original photo had major red-eye. Then I added various effects via Photoshop (pictures 2-7). Then, I took the files down to my friendly Costco, and had them make 5x7 prints on matte photo paper- total, under $3 (okay, there was the cost of the membership at Costco, but you can get this done at Kinko's or wherever). Then I put them in some frames (Ribba! $9.99 each) and voila! An art project worthy of Andy Warhol... or at least Trading Spaces.
