Well, almost a week late, the windows are being installed. Hub was able to take a day off work to herd cats from room to room, take down blinds, and make sure the contractors don't steal our magic bag. He's also taking the opportunity to put paver blocks to the pool pump so I don't have to wade in mud when I need to fuck with the pool stuff, and to build a new wee little house for the spa works. Right now they are 'protected' by a little wooden shed a little bigger than waist high. With a flat roof. So every leaf, catkin, and piece of crap that ever fell on it is still there, and water pools on it, so it's warped and has started taking the side of the house with it. Hub's designing something made out of all white UV-resistant plastic and utilizing the miracle of sloping as well. Woo!
From what I understand, they're going to replace all the little windows today and the big ones tomorrow. The garden window over the kitchen sink is in, plus the ones in the tank room and hub's computer room. That leaves the 2 picture windows (one in the office and one in the master bedroom), the 2 medium-sized windows in the living room, and everything upstairs (altar room, hallway, smaller master bed, shower, WC room). I doubt they'll finish it all tomorrow, but who knows. I'm just glad it's getting done.
If you're curious,
here are the guys who are doing it, and
this is what we're getting. If they do right by us, we might have them replace our siding somewhere down the road. The stuff we have is a little better than cardboard.
I wish I was home to watch. Time seems to be crawling at work today.
