Aug. 9th, 2005 04:36 pmI awoke to stormy weather. Hub had planned to stay home and deal with the window guys, but they haven't showed up or called or anything. I called last night when they didn't come by and they said they didn't work in the rain, so I haven't bothered calling them today, though it's been sunny since noon. They'll show up whenever they show up. This is the nature of contractors. It is true without untruth, certain and most true. :P
I decided to go get my eyes checked, since I've noticed I'm squinting at the menu of the telly lately. I have a pair of glasses, but I got them at a cheap eyeglass place and only wear them if I really need them (driving at night, hentai with subtitles) and since I've had them for awhile I suspect my prescription has changed.
Apparently eye guys are not like Supercuts, despite their frequent occurrences in malls. You can't just walk up and get your eyes done. So the place I had 'em checked before was booked, but I drove by another place that had an appointment I could make. I sprung for the miniature white planetarium peripheral vision test, and the dilation. You should see my pupils. They're huge.
End result: a negligible amount of near-sightedness and a lot of astigmatism. I thought they were the same thing, but astigmatism specifically refers to the lack of sphericalness of the eyeball. Also, my optic nerves are fat (.5 somethings, millimeters I assume, when most people's are .3-.4). Why, there is nothing wrong with my big, meaty, Rubenesque optic nerves! That is unless they are bigger than they were before, and since that was the first time I saw her, there's no telling. She said come back in a year. If it's anything it's beginning glaucoma, and that progresses slowly. Guess I need to start smoking pot.

left: sphere -.50, cylinder -1.00, axis 047
So I can add 'asymmetrically non-spherical eyeballs' to my list of features. And call the rest of you 'round eyes.'
