Jun. 29th, 2005 02:12 pmRandom update. I spent Tuesday trying to be productive. I cleaned out the White Thing which is this big cabinet/bookcase/thing in the cat room that will have to be disassembled before it can be moved out of the cat room. The drawers are full of art and craft stuff, and the shelves had books and photos. The books went on the stairs, which is the stage 1 limbo where books go before I figure out exactly what to do with them. Stage 2 limbo is the desk in the hallway upstairs, which is probably going to be their final resting place for awhile. I simply do not have enough bookshelves for the amount of books I have, so they get stacked on the desk. It works for now.
The cabinets had most of my stuffed animals, and a bunch of VHS tapes. Hub had been wanting me to do something with 2 other little boxes of VHS tapes and another of cassettes, so I consolidated everything and put it all in the second set of shelves in my bedroom closet, the one closest to the ceiling. The animals are all sitting on the boxes staring down. It sounds creepy, but I think it's kind of cool. This also cleared out space in the tank room closet, which I plan to stuff full of the Christmas boxes (the tree, ornaments, wrapping accoutrements). That way the living room closet can be solely for camping gear.
The reason for all this is twofold. One, the cat room needs to be completely emptied out so it can be tiled. The cats have been being repeatedly naughty in there for reasons we can't determine, and it's the only room in that area of the house that has carpet. So it just makes sense to go ahead and tile it. That carpet was a horror when we moved in, but we didn't use the room for much so we didn't give much of a damn. Now the carpet is a lot worse, and it needs to go.
Part the second- hub is on a purging/cleaning spree. He's uncluttered vast tracts of closet space and given old computer viscera to Amiga freaks and others who will love and appreciate them. So we're tying to get lots of stuff cleared out and the remaining stuff consolidated and neatly put where it oughta go.
In case you wondered, we put the stinky futon in it's frame out on the lawn with a sign saying "Free, Take Me!" and it disappeared overnight. Enjoy.
Tiling will occur over the long weekend. Hub thinks he'll get out of work early Friday, and he has Monday off and asked for Tuesday off since 7/1 is his year anniversary and he gets a day off to celebrate it. I had planned to go camping this weekend, and he said to go on ahead- he says it's mostly a one-man job anyway. He's a lot more meticulous than I am, so he's probably right. We're going to go buy the tile and such tonight. We're not looking to do anything fancy (it's still gonna be the cat room) so we'll just get whatever's the cheapest and most neutral in color, probably running towards cool neutral (grey) as opposed to warm neutral (beige).
