Feb. 24th, 2005 12:08 pmI got close to 8 hours of sleep last night, but I feel like hammered dookie. It doesn't make sense. You know those cartoons when the guy's trying to stay awake so he props toothpicks in his eyelids but his eyes snap shut anyway and breaks the toothpicks? That's me today. I did put this picture as my background and changed my desktop color scheme to 'wheat', which is a nice golden yellow. It's actually helping with my energy level a little. Also, the bigger cat reminds me of my friend's runt Maine Coon cat, Mr.Kitty (his actual registered name). Verra nice cat, he.
What isn't helping is looking at scooters. I love my old Goldwing, when it runs, but it scares me a little because it's such a big heavy bastard. I know if I were to ever drop it I would be screwed. I got my motorcycle license on a big scooter, a 180cc that I drove to Kerrville and back on a semi-regular basis (about 100 miles- most often to get laid, which is stupid upon reflection; I was an attractive college student in a co-ed co-op driving to Bum-fuck Texas to get some?!) with no problem. Now they're making even bigger scooters that still get 60 mpg and go 90 miles an hour. I love Homer the Odyssey and he's great to camp in or haul friends around, but most of the time I'm driving him with just myself, and it is a wee bit wasteful.
So I have scooter lust. The first one I looked at was the Honda Silverwing. It's a 650 and runs for about 8 grand, the most fancy of the big scooters. Sure they're nice, but I don't think I need that much scooter- I might take it on the occasional day trip, but it'd mostly be for puttering around town. There are some nice 400s, including the Yamaha Majesty. Note the lovely blueness; and they're about 2 grand cheaper. I also have a fondness for Yamahas since those were the scooters I had in college. I don't have much information on the smaller Suzuki Burgmen but there is a used one in Kerrville of all places. Of course we need more vehicles like we need a hole in the head, but I can rationalize it with the best of them and dream anyway.
