I got a speeding ticket maybe 10 miles outside of Sweetwater. I was doing some serious woolgathering and didn't even notice the cop until he was right on my ass. And I was speeding like crazy, so I can't really bitch all that much. I wanted to get home.

It was 86 in a 70, so I'm out about $160 for the fine, or (if the paper I got includes everything) $97 for 'administrative fees' plus the cost of the defensive driving course if I decide to go that route (very likely, for insurance reasons). I understand there is a way you can do it on the web these days. My, my, the wonders of technology and stuff.

Kit and his burner pal came over last night for hub's tasty veggie chili, hot tubbing, and Adult Swim. It was nice to hang out with him. There was a bump during Adult Swim where they had synced Sealab 2021's Debbie and Marco to some Spanish song that really grabbed my attention. Sure enough, the AS message boards yielded the name- it's 'Aguas de Marco (Waters of March)' sung by Antonio Carlos Jobim and Elis Regina. Catchy.

My first call of the day is a woman who is very obviously crazy, accusing just about everyone of having sex with her kids, and whoever didn't is 'in cahoots' with them, including everyone at the sheriff's office. Oh, and they're trying to silence her by having her committed. Imagine that. What am I, a crazy magnet or something?

How many Bush administration officials does it take to change a light bulb?

None. There’s nothing wrong with that light bulb. There is no need to change anything. We made the right decision and nothing has happened to change our minds. People who criticize this light bulb now, just because it doesn’t work anymore, supported us when we first screwed it in, and when these flip-floppers insist on saying that it is burned out, they are merely giving aid and encouragement to the Forces of Darkness.

If you haven't already seen this link a few thousand times, check out Jon Stewart on Crossfire. It's positively jaw-dropping. I love him. He basically calls them running dog lackeys of the political machine and the corporations, and accused them of hurting America- and he was serious. He ripped that guy with the bow tie a new one, too, which was amazing to see. It was actually hard for me to watch.

I think I am starting to reach critical mass with the political vitriol. I wince whenever I see an email from Dad anymore. We discussed it when I went to visit, and while it was interesting to hear his point of view, I don't want to talk about it anymore with him. He's sending me the most absurdly biased shit; I wonder if he actually thinks he can change my mind- yeah, I'm going to vote for Bush because Kerry's wife is rich? That is rich.

He's obviously thought about it, but here's what it boils down to. I think the president should be some combination of, oh I dunno, Jon Stewart and Carl Sagan. He thinks he should be like John Wayne and Tom Landry. I said that I thought Bush was a 'macho frat boy asshole' and Dad agreed, and said that that's basically what he liked about him. He doesn't like Kerry because he's 'effete.' We're obviously never going to see eye to eye on this one. It just seems like such a style over substance thing; Dad likes W because he feels like he could have a conversation with him, and that Laura is 'nice'. What the hell does that matter? I don't want a president who has a nice wife, I want a president who is smart enough to do the job. "But he went to Yale!" There is no point in discussing it with the guy. He reads the Limbaugh Letter, for fuck's sake.

Where did the fall go? It got really nice there for a few days, now it's hot and muggy. October's half-way over; I thought we were done with hot and muggy for awhile.

I am feeling pretty down today. I'm probably over-sensitive. I'd sure enjoy another month off. If only I had another womb to remove. *sigh*
