Sep. 26th, 2004 10:51 amIt's back to work day.
Things change constantly when you work for the state and that didn't stop just because I was gone for a week. In an especially stupid move, they decided to rearrange who had what supervisor. Theoretically they did this to match workers with sups who had a similar schedule. They booted me to a supervisor who is probably one of the most disliked sups here- she doesn't know much, and has a severe case of what I usually call Male Answer Syndrome- she'll make up an answer (and it's really obvious when she does this based on vocal inflection and such) and then insist that it's correct, even in the face of evidence to the contrary, and will get offended if you question her. That's not happy. In addition, my co-worker who has an almost identical schedule to mine was moved out of her unit and into my former unit. So I find this all to be pretty needlessly disruptive. I really liked my old supervisor a whole lot, and I can only hope that this dingbat I'm going to be stuck with has some heretofore unseen good qualities. *sigh*
They've also installed a program that blocks certain websites. I went through all my bookmarks and the only sites that have been blocked was the AIM one, and one of the several comic sites I visit ('Dork Tower', probably because it's hosted on a gaming site. Oh well, he wasn't updating consistently anyway). I don't mind this as much, though if they start tracking where everyone goes I'm toast. There's been whispers that they might do such a thing at some point, but nothing definite.
I'm sleepy.
My friend from high school and her betrothed are coming down next weekend from Chicago so I can co-officiate with a friend of theirs at their wedding. I'm trying to get them to nail down the ceremony; she keeps asking me what I want and I keep telling her I don't care, I'll do whatever they want. But she's a believer of something or other and her betrothed is a hard atheist, so apparently they have some negotiating to do. It don't matter to me either way and I told her as much; hopefully this will make it easier. I have no agenda.
The parents are pressuring me to come up too. Maybe the following weekend.
No rest for the mellow. *sigh* again.
