Aug. 12th, 2004 07:02 amWell, I went to Pet Smart, the one I could see from my window when I was in the hospital. I was in need of an assload of kitty litter; many places sell the brand I use in a small bag but only a few sell it by the assload. Sadly, this one had shelf space for it but it was sold out.
So I was walking back to the front of the store so I could get my tired, cranky carcass home. I passed by the mammal holding cells, and saw a kitten in one of them. I see them all the time; I usually pass them by without much notice. But one of them looked right at me, perked up, and jumped down, then started meowing from behind the glass at me. Her sister was sleeping and paid me no attention. I can't describe it without sounding really crazy, but when we looked at each other I almost busted out crying. She was so beautiful, I couldn't leave. I thought briefly about just nabbing her and heading home, but I called hub to make sure he was okay with it. He reluctantly agreed. I've tried to do the 'dump and ignore' method to introduce a cat to an already established cat household, and it's been working. The only one who's registered any complaints is Maya, interestingly enough (growling at 3:30, which is why I'm up- decided to get up to watch the Perseids). The others have been demanding more attention, which I give. It's hard to ignore the new girl, but I know it's for the best for now.
