Brenda came over around 1pm and we went to see Van Helsing at the dollar theatre. I wouldn't've thought so many people would bring 4 year olds (one lady brought 5) to see this movie. They were making a tremendous racket at the beginning, but they actually quieted down when the movie got rolling.
It was an okay movie. Plot holes and inconsistencies and 'why the fuck did that happen?' and things like that, but you know, I wasn't expecting it to be no Schindler's List after all. And Hugh Jackman is pretty cute. Lots of action, but I still managed to fall asleep briefly a couple of times... I think this was more a factor of my energy level than any comment on the movie. I was gonna ask Brenda to drive me by the bank but instead I just asked her to drop me off home and I took a long nap.
After having some dinner I went to Kirby's to play with beads while hub went off to Go club. One of my necklaces had broken and she was happy to let me use her supplies to fix it. It was all amethyst and fluorite beads, with a beautiful silver pendant that looks like a tree with an amethyst in the roots. Kirby had made it originally and offered to let me add more beads to it or arrange them differently, but I liked her design well enough to keep it as is. She also donated a necklace for me to restring to give to Jodi at Autumnfest to help with her liver expenses (http://www.bionicpriestessproject.com/ and http://www.savejodi.org/) and then found a pendant to unload, which made me think of all the jewelry I have that is perfectly wonderful jewelry that I'm sick of or liked better on eBay than when I got it in hand or what have you. So I may gather up a few items to donate.
Anyway, it was nice to string beads- a task which Kirby finds tedious sometimes but seemed to be a nice brainless, grounding activity which was perfect for my mood. We gossiped and noshed and just had quiet girl time. But we were both soon pooped so I headed home. Hub came home right after I did and had a great time at Go club- they moved the main game shop up north so it was pretty well attended. And he's found some people to play games with on non-Go nights too, so we'll see what they're like some evening soon.
