austin_tycho: crater (Comic Book Guy)
It is hella-slow at work, since it's always slow on Sundays but especially slow on holidays (Father's Day, not the summer solstice). So since my grove made up our calendar for the next 6 months, I had planned to spend some time today updating the Yahoo groups calendar. It's clunky and requires some serious fussing to update, and I figured it was a nice project to keep me busy. So, naturally, the thing is not working. You can go to the pages to update/delete/add anything you want, but you can't actually submit anything. I hit the button, and nothing happens. So my Virgoan tendencies are thwarted. Hopefully they'll get my email complaining about it and get right on it! *snork*

I did find that I can adjust some of the colors that display on the site. I had some fun picking very bright colors and making it almost unreadable, but changed it to something a little more muted but not the usual blue and grey snoozefest that was there before.

Yesterday was crammed full.

Friend Jayne from Dallas was visiting a friend from California who was in Austin for business, so we all went out for breakfast together. The friend was pretty quiet, but all of them did get in a lot of acronym talk about computer programming. I was glad I had a seat by the window. Not that it was tortuous at all- hanging out and having a nice meal with hub is always a happy thing even if he is talking in a foreign language.

We decided to check out a neighbor's garage sale; it was pretty picked-over but I got a nice big duffel bag with about 400 little compartments in it for pocket change. This way we don't have to fight over the one duffel bag we had when we both go somewhere. Pretty exciting, huh?

Then the router died 'dead as Buffy's dead mom' as hub said. It had sounded serious, but we went to Fry's, bought another one, and it was running in under 5 minutes. This is why I am a nerd hag. We then replanted my spearmint in the front yard. There's that strip of lawn that's between our house and neighbor's house that's just sitting there keeping our houses separated so I thought that was a good place for it. It also gets full Sun and has a faucet so I can water the darlings more than the occasional 'oh yeah I have a plant to take care of' that they've been getting up to this point which isn't cutting it anymore since the rainy season seems to have come to an end. 'Won't it take over everything?' you ax? Well, that'd be nice actually. I like spearmint a lot, so I might as well get some use out of that section of ground. I am almost certain Neighbor won't give a crap, since he's renting and I've seen him outside a total of maybe 6 times in the 4 years we've lived here. I think he's one of those workaholics that has a futon and a tv and no other furniture in the whole house.

After hanging around for a bit hub left for Brö's since I had a ritual that evening. I spent the rest of the afternoon slowly getting the living room into shape for the Pagan Dedication ritual. Kirby popped by and borrowed some books and a little mellow vibe- it was nice to see her, even if she wasn't feeling very happy. I took my bath after she left. When I got out there were already 6 people at the door when I finished, almost a half-hour early. This seemed auspicious, and the ritual seemed to go off pretty well even with one last-minute cancellation. It was someone outside the group I was borrowing to fill in a role; I think it ended up working better anyway with it being 'just us' anyway. As usual I was totally exhausted after everyone left (and they only left me with minimal clean-up!) so by the time hub got home I was just about ready to pass out.

It was past midnight by the time I got to sleep, so you'd think I'd've slept until the alarm went off, but it seems hard for me to sleep after it gets light... and it being the longest day of the year today, it got light pretty freaking early. I've heard that this could be a side-effect of the birth control pills I'm taking, which is odd but it would explain it better than 'you're getting old and need less sleep'; being 36 I don't think I'm quite ready for the Luby's set, and I feel pretty pooped today. Maybe I am ready for the Luby's set and just need a nap. *shakes cane* You kids get off my lawn!

Well, still slow. But I've been amused at these Book a Minute reviews.
