Jun. 10th, 2004 05:38 pmToday has been mellow chores and email day.
I cleared out by email box (go, me) and cleaned the kitty litter box and both aquaria. It's time to get some buddies for the 10 gallon tank- I'm down to 2 tetras and they get sad if there's not at least 4 to school with. So I went to the local pet store (Gallery of Pets). I also needed cat füd, and MegaPetSmartCo stopped selling the big bags of IAMS geezer cat füd. GoP doesn't sell the big bags and they're more expensive but screw it; I'd rather keep the money in Austin anyway.
So the fish guy got my neons and pointed out 2 lonely Cardinal tetras for sale. They were from his tank, but he's moving out of state. I had been under the impression from the guys at AquaTek that Cardinals require a high level of fish fu, but GoP guy said they liked their water with a little lower pH and that was it. He'd even managed to breed them without trying and by benignly neglecting them. We'll see how they do.
I went to Mervyn's to get some duds. I was looking for baggy pajama bottoms (post-surgery, I'm told the gas will make my belly big and very tender so elastic's recommended against) and didn't find anything that wasn't in a pastel color- I may have to go with that, but I bought some jeans and stuff instead. When I got there, I saw another Honda Odyssey. There's a bunch of them around town, but this one looked black, which I'd never seen before. When I walked around the front of it and the sun hit it, it turned out to be a deep, deep plum color. Pretty!
I couldn't've given a crap when Raygun died, but when the radio played Ray Charles' version of America the Beautiful I bawled like a baby.
Tomorrow everyone goes to the vet. Bolt's getting his summer 'do because he can't seem to not mat up when it gets warm and he starts shedding; it also makes him puke a lot from hairballs, and we're trying to put weight on him. The vet has been forewarned. He (Bolt) hates the process of being shorn, but I think he feels a lot better once it's over with. Getting all three of them to the vet is going to be interesting. Bolt's been taking his flavor injections pretty well, though he always finds a new hiding place when he knows it's time. He also gets a can of Fancy Feast when he's done. He doesn't actually eat any of the food, he just licks all the sauce off and leaves the little dessicated chunks for the rest of the bunch. I wonder if they sell just the sauce.
