Alrighty- the fence is done. Yay! No more fence fucking-with hopefully for 20 years or so. I was plank lady; I handed planks while he nail-gunned them in (the nail gun scares me) so I'm tired of schlepping stacks of planks. I discovered that I can comfortably carry 6 but could lug up to 12 if I had to; isn't that interesting?
I tried to go swimming yesterday after we finished but my suit had holes in it, and my swim goggles broke. So last night I went to (shudder) Wal-Mart and got a swimsuit, goggles and a hose for Mom's waterbed. I generally hate shopping there but will go every couple of years when I feel broke and need things that I know I can get cheap there- the tab for unremarkable swimsuit, pretty nice goggles and 50 feet of crappy hose was under $30. Hopefully I won't need to go back for another couple of years.
2 of my students showed up to take their Dedicant test, and they both passed with As. The other was a no-show but she's moving her and her large family into their first home, so she hadn't studied and will test in a couple of weeks. So- started with six, ended up with three; not too bad.
Tonight- D&D. Tomorrow- a big pile of nothing if I can help it; then work then help Mom with the Move and fly her out to Page. June 1st just can't come fast enough. :P
Oh! Someone in the
austincommunity posted a link to an actual
lavender farm that's only about 50 miles from here. They're having a big festival this weekend but because of the weirdly cool weather there's not much lavender; I'm thinking it'd be cool to go in later on after all this Mom crap's settled down and there'll be less people and more lavender. Kirby seemed pretty excited to go too when I mentioned it to her. She popped by before fence-building started to bring me chocolate because she knew I was stressed. Have I told you lately that I love you, Kirby? So, lavender field trip in a few weeks. Want to come along,
