I cannot sleep. I don't know why.

Last week I saw the first of the blooming mountain laurels. I look forward to them almost as much as I look forward to the bluebonnets- and I saw the first of those on the way to work (grr) this morning. Another reason why it's a good thing I'm not a parent- I would stick my baby in the bluebonnets, take a skillion pictures, and inflict them on everyone, including you. It's so cliché but there it is. It's a good thing I can't make the cats sit in them, because I would, forsooth! I heart bluebonnets.

The other night at the Full Moon, there was a stunning ring around it.

Okay, so this morning hub and I are idly chatting. We talk about things we think we should have, and I said 'I should have $700.' I pulled this number out of my ass, briefly thinking that between the statue, the chalice, and a couple of other sparklies I'd like that'd cover it all. So this evening I check my bank balance, and there has been an unexpected deposit for a little over $700 from work. Now, I am due the money for the extra time I worked in January this month, but that doesn't usually come until at least mid-month, and was going to be around $200. I was expecting another $500 for February's work in mid-April, so I suppose it's possible the State in a completely uncharacteristic fit of efficiency managed to get both months' pay out a month and a half ahead of schedule. I'm holding my breath hoping they don't ask for it back, and I'm not going to go spending it yet until I see some sort of paystub (and they usually get those to me before the money shows up) but even so... that's a pretty neat surprise.

For whatever reason, I couldn't get to sleep until about 3am, and I slept fitfully after that. I have to say, after surfing the interweb in a cold house and then crawling into bed, hub gets saint recommendations or karma points or whatever for snuggling up to my clammy carcass when I got back into bed, rather than recoiling as many might. But when I awoke for work, I couldn't imagine going in. So I called in, went back to sleep fitfully until about noon and decided I might as well go in after I had some lunch and felt a little better.

First though I needed a shower, decided to vote (not sure why- I thought this was for an actual election, but it's all Democrats versus Democrats for a real election later on. Dean was even still on there. I voted for Kucinich; what the hell), and picked up my license plates. That was a lot less painful that I had expected; it wasn't that busy and I brought a book anyway. I now own 'Keep Texas Wild' specialized plates with a bluebonnet on them. The number is a lot more memorable too. I think my last ones had the most un-memorizable number I've seen. There was an X and a J in it... good for Scrabble points, bad for memorization. I also picked up hub's sticker, just because I'm nice that way.

Now, I'm at work. Our entry system has gone paws-up, and I'm hoping it comes up soon. *sigh* At least I'm not using leave, though I'm being about as productive as if I'd stayed at home. LJ, you are my good, good friend! *smooch*
